Slack Community Guidelines
Welcome to the IFundWomen Community Slack Channel! We are so excited to get to know you and help you succeed. We want to help you make the most out of this channel, so we have a few suggestions and guidelines that can help you engage in the most productive way possible.
Purpose: The purpose of this slack channel is to support you, your amazing business, and continue the funding ecosystem for women-led businesses. Use this channel for advice on your campaign, networking, strategy, share accomplishments, and more!
By joining our Slack community, you are signing up for our mailing list. Don't worry, we will not spam you.
What To Do
- Tell Us Who You Are: Take the time to introduce yourself in the “hello_founders” channel. Additionally, consider adding the name of your business next to your display name and adding your email address to your profile so people can get in contact!
- Be Engaged: Your constructive contributions matter! And your questions are welcome and valid. Your participation makes this a better community, and you are encouraged to stay active and engaged as much as you’d like.
- Give First Mentality: Always approach the channel with thoughtful and productive questions or comments. If you’re asking for something on the channel, try to find something you can give as well! You can use the words #ask and #give to clarify what you’re looking for. This is a great way to avoid any members feeling bombarded or spammed. When we all add to the well, we never run out of knowledge!
- Be Inclusive: Use inclusive vocabulary where possible, be kind to one another, and be open to learning about everyone's varied experiences of life. Generally speaking, this means refraining from derogatory language related to a woman’s gender(s), sexual orientation or preference(s), physical or mental dis/ability, race, religion, and life choices including those of a financial, employment or health-related nature.
What Not To Do
- Don’t Be a Hater: Debate and discuss constructively! Kindness counts. We have a zero tolerance for name-calling, mean-spirited comments, or hate, and you will be removed immediately for any hateful messages.
- Keep it Appropriate: Please consider this space may be used by ladies of all ages and backgrounds, and keep content to a semi-professional tone. No explicit images or graphic language. Mocking and harassment will not be tolerated
- Use the Right Channel: Take a peek at the description of the channel you are posting in and ask if it’s the best spot for your questions or comments (i.e. is your content best suited for this channel?). When reacting or responding to another post, consider using emoji reactions or adding to the “thread” to keep the channel free from clutter.
- Don’t Be Spammy: We 100% want you to use the IFundWomen community to advance your career. Share or promote yourself in the right channels (like #shameless_plug). We’ll be here cheering you on. That being said, use your judgement, and please don’t
flood or spam the channels. We suggest keeping general promotions to 2x per week, and if you’re promoting an event no more than 2x total.
- Changing the Slack: We welcome you to invite people to the slack who will benefit from the knowledge! Please don’t add any integrations or customization to this slack.
THE NOT SO FUN PART
- Warnings: If you are not following these community guidelines, you will be DM’d by one of the Slack admins requesting that you adjust your behavior and/or remove your posts.
- Escalate to an admin: DM an admin if you feel like anyone on the slack has violated our guidelines or email help@ifundwomen.com.
- Removal: We reserve the right to delete any post, or remove any member of the community for not following the above community guidelines.
- Protect yourself from scammers: The IFundWomen Community Slack is intended to be a safe space for our entrepreneurs, and we pride ourselves on doing a clean sweep as often as possible. BUT, we can’t catch 'em all. If someone does any of the following, it’s best to loop us in (help@ifundwomen.com):
-
- Asks you for your personal information (in a solicited manner)
- Asks you for your bank details
- States they are a private investor
- Does anything else that seems fishy
